M.E.T.A.L. is a database developed to store, organise and retrieve data of patients admitted with acute injuries and other musculoskeletal conditions, producing various reports and lists relevant to an orthopaedic unit including admission, trauma and ward round lists, in addition to the ability to retrieve stored data for the purposes of teaching, research and audit.  The database is highly functional, easy to use, and adaptable to the needs of individual orthopaedic units, requiring no training or instruction manuals.
