Development
METAL is a bespoke Microsoft Access database split into front-end (user interface) and back-end (data tables). Front-end is developed in MS Access with VBA code and SQL. Back-end database can be a MS Access DB, SQL server DB, Sharepoint list or Azure SQL
Data security
Front-end and back-end are encrypted and password protected
Accessed only by approved staff
Conforms to Caldicott principles, Information governance and GDPR
Design
METAL is designed with clinical teams from the grounds up to reflect specific workflows in trauma units.
User interface and functionality are fully custumisable
Data can be stored on local drives, hospital servers or secure Microsoft cloud servers (Sharepoint, SQL, Azure)
